Webel: The single biggest disease in the world of IT is the idea that somehow mathematics is bad, or not useful, or not efficient, and that getting people who don't like maths to make stuff up (badly) in coding languages (rather than using maths) is ok.

Dr Darren:
Most, nearly all, of nearly everything I've seen and suffered in IT could be done better with symbolic algebra tools (like Mathematica). But first, we need project managers who are not allergic to mathematics, and reward developers for using mathematics, instead of pounding away at keyboards in some language that recruiters assure the managers there is a supply of "talent" for.
We need a supply of mathematics talent, not more "agile" code monkey talent.
