In the Webel terminology for a basic control loop there is an 'aim' value (controlled via an actuator) and a 'got' value (a value read from a sensor). The 'got' value is NOT necessarily exactly the same as the actual physical value.

In German control engineering there are nice terms 'Sollwert' and 'Istwert' for the 'aim' and 'got' values.

While in English the terms 'aim value' and 'target value' are quite common, there is less agreement on what to call what Webel calls the 'got' value. Note that 'aim' and 'got' both have three letters, so this works well as a mini naming pattern.
